Job Posting: Light Equipment Operator/Laborer

Reports To: Public Works Superintendent

The City of Plainwell is seeking a Permanent Part-Time Light Equipment Operator/Laborer to join the Public Works Department.  This position performs physically demanding work, including operating light equipment and providing general labor in support of a wide range of maintenance tasks.  Duties may include, but are not limited to, work on streets and sidewalks, water and sewer systems, parks, and City buildings and grounds. 

 

Position Details:

·         Type: Union Position, Permanent Part-time

·         Hours:  May vary, 20 – 32 hours per week.  Regular hours occur Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with possible weekend work or alternative scheduling to meet department needs.

·         Pay Rate:  Starting wage of $18.67 per hour.  Increases are determined by collective bargaining agreement.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

·         High school diploma or equivalent.

·         Valid driver's license.

·         Experience with equipment operation, construction, or public works maintenance preferred.

·         Ability to perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions.

·         Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
